We all know that having that first look with your soon-to-be husband sweeps us off our feet. We get a first look into the raw emotion and intimacy between two loved ones. But there is another first look that is a “must have.”

A first look with your father.

There is nothing more pure than the tender look and love of a father for his daughter. Our fathers have been chosen by the first Love of our lives, our Heavenly Father, God. He loves us so much by giving us our earthly fathers to protect and love us to then lead us to the man who loves our soul most, our husbands.

Just think, your earthly father is the first man who ever looked at you when you were born. He was the first man who held you his arms and first man to ever care for you.

However, when a father’s baby girl is just that, the idea of giving her away to her husband is the furthest from his mind. Yet when the time comes to have that first look with your father, their eyes water with amazement, sweetness, and pride to give her away, entrusting her to be taken care of by her husband.

The moment when your father gives you away during the ceremony is actually pretty quick. By having this set-aside time that is just for you and your father, you are honoring and respecting him by giving your undivided attention to one another. You’ll be able to  have quiet moments with your father before the hustle and busyness of the day.
