Ivory and Blush Al Fresco Arizona Wedding: The Paseo

Ivory and Blush Al Fresco Arizona Wedding | The Paseo Wedding | Scottsdale Wedding Photos | April Maura Photography | www.aprilmaura.com_1875.jpg

Josh and Kathryn’s everlasting love story recently landed in their chapter of four years of marriage. With this wedding inspirational shoot, they were able to show off their marriage in a fresh and new way, while sharing and reliving moments of their own wedding.

The concept of this shoot consists of a dreamy summer al fresco Arizona wedding with ivories and blushes designed by HERITAGE FLOWERS AZ at the enchanting and natural THE PASEO. Love, elegance, glamour, true romance, effortless beauty and charisma were in the air on this beautiful afternoon surrounded by a lovely outdoor setting. The remarkable Arizona countryside was the background with a few details including a blush ribbon that is sure to set the romantic mood to a “T”.  All together this wedding inspiration covered a multitude of graces, dreams, and hopes. The Paseo Wedding | Scottsdale Wedding Photos | April Maura Photography | www.aprilmaura.com_1874.jpg

Here is the eloquently spoken Kathryn who takes on writing her version of the moment she said yes to the man of her dreams:

“Josh was planning on taking me up to Sedona for the day. I had my suspicions because I saw his dad earlier that week and he came up to me and mentioned that my wedding ring had come in. Josh isn’t one to sit on something like that for a long time, so I knew he was going to propose, probably up in Oak Creek, where we had our first date (just 3 months earlier).

As we were heading up north, we got stuck in a huge traffic jam for about an hour, so we made a last minute decision to go to Prescott, which threw me off his scent. But I was on edge all day as we went to the lake and explored the little town. I kept waiting for some spontaneous romantic moment, but the highlight real only included a tarantula and having to pee on the side of the road.
On our way back, Josh stopped at the gas station right by his house to fill up my car. He took out his backpack and I heard the snap of a ring box. Right there, my heart sank as I had visions of Jim and Pam’s engagement (which don’t get me wrong, is romantic in its own unique way. But I didn’t want that to be my story).
It was night by the time got to his house. We went through the front door (which was unusual), and the huge hallway was a sea of lights and candles. He got down and one knee and said something like “I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life without you. Will you be my bride?” (it’s funny how things get blurry over the years). The kitchen was glowing with more candles and chocolate covered strawberries. Some of his family came in and celebrated with us after. What I love most about the way he proposed is it was such an intimate proposal, where it was just him and me, and it was done in the very place where we are now raising our two boys. That memory will always be here in our home.

Our wedding anniversary is May 18, 2012. We got married in Sycamore Springs outside of Sedona. It is such a dreamy place, with huge Cottonwoods, a little pond with a dock and lookout house, a stream and a big grassy meadow.”

The muted tones of pink with the ivory is a timeless and classic look that will never grow old, just like Josh and Kathryn’s love for one another.

There are hints of a traditional wedding mixed in with elegance and organic that make this wedding completely relevant yet totally sophisticated.

What a view at THE PASEO wedding ceremony site. It overlooks the breath taking Superstition Mountains.

We asked Kathryn “What do you love most about your partner?” and this is her response:

How fearless Josh is. I think it’s really easy, especially for girls, to become fearful in relationships and wonder if “he’s really the one”. When I first started dating Josh, trying to figure out if he was “the one”, I felt the Lord tell me to be led by His peace, which is how Josh has led me every since.  Josh is never swayed by fear, anxiety, or insecurity, but has so much trust in who God is and who God created him to be. I’m also amazed by what a man of God he is, and by that, I mean he puts providing for and protecting his family above any ministry platform or job. It makes me feel so cultivated and loved.

Greenery mixed with shades of color brings that organic and raw feel that we are all in love with at the moment.

Love is healing for our hearts. Love brings us into who we were created to be. With vulnerability and courage, when true unconditional love enters our hearts, we enter into a freedom like we’ve never encountered. For Josh and Kathryn we asked them this question about how they have grown into who they are after 4 years of marriage:

What God has taught you in your marriage:
Josh: The power of a kind and loving response in every situation.
Kathryn: This probably isn’t a very sexy answer, but how to die to myself. I heard somebody say once that if you want to love Jesus, you stay single, but if you want to look like Him, get married. Marriage makes happy people happier, but it isn’t the answer to your insecurities or struggles – they only get magnified being that close to someone else. But it is incredible how God uses that other person to really let you know how He feels about you. To be loved and known and accepted on that kind of commitment level is one of the most powerful experiences in life.

We asked them what wisdom they had for cultivating a healthy marriage and this was their response:
You can never over communicate (which is different from just talking a lot, girls..haha). Plan spontaneous adventures, leave little love notes around the house, cook together and laugh a lot. Make it your goal to out-serve one another; never keep score. Pray with/for one another on a regular basis and don’t let intimacy slip away, or you’ll wake up to a roommate.
We will end on this sweet moment between the couple.
