As a lover of wisdom and sharing knowledge I love when wedding vendors share their expertise to help couples in this joyous wedding season! Some couples ask, when should we take our engagement photos? This is vital question to ask when planning your wedding paper details, like RSVP’s. For this winter season we have Basic Invite sharing their knowledge on The Importance of Wedding Invitations & Stationery, one the biggest elements that tells your wedding day story!

Valentine’s Day brings out the romance helping many couples take it to the next level. So, after this month there will be plenty of newly engaged couples out there embarking on their journey down the aisle. This means that wedding planning near and far is well under way, but probably in the beginning stages yet. So, if you have your date, your destination, and all of those important venue details squared away, it’s time to have some fun – we’re talking wedding invitations with Public Relations Correspondent, Katie, from Basic Invite.

When brides come to us for their wedding invitations the same questions always seem to arise… What do I need to purchase and why is it important? What does the timing of everything in relation to the festivities look like? Do I really need save the dates or enclosure cards? The Timeline

  • 8+ months start shopping! Check out different designs depending on your theme or style and play around with colors to match your wedding decor and personality.
  • 6+ months order save the date cards. Save the dates are an important step in the process. This will give your guests a heads up that a wedding is around the corner!
  • 4+ send your save the dates and order wedding invitations. Get your save the dates in the mail and order your wedding invitations. At this point you’ve probably decided if you’re going with a cohesive theme and matching all of your stationery or using a completely different design. All that matter is that you love whatever you create!
  • 3+ months send your invites order your wedding day accessories. You want to give your guests enough time to plan, save, and make accommodations for your wedding. This is where enclosure cards and day of accessories come into play. The more information the guests have the better their experience will be.
  • Get Married!
  • 2 weeks after order wedding announcements and send thank you cards. Many couples like to use their favorite wedding day photo for their announcements. So, depending on when you get your wedding photos back there is some wiggle room here. On the contrary, thank you cards are a must and it’s important to get them written and sent out as soon as possible! You want to be sure to recognize your guests and thank them for celebrating with you.

The Science

Wedding stationery is one of the most important parts of the wedding planning process. Without guests there wouldn’t be anyone to share in your moment of love. And without invitations there wouldn’t be any guests, right? That is why it’s so important to send out the right stationery at the right time. Since wedding invitations and stationery are a bit of an investment it’s important to choose a design you’re in love with, colors you adore, and ultimately invitations that will represent you, your partner, and your day in the best most unique way possible to get your guests just as excited as you are.
